There is loads of options out there for the next gen ranger when it comes to flares but which are the best for your application?
The determining factor is going to be based on:
1. sizing, what coverage do you require?
2. Quality, which will last for your application?
3. Which will suit you current accessories? Snorkel, Bull Bars ETC.
Sizing:
There are lots of options for sizing your fender flares. The most common wheel sizes on the next gen rangers are 9' 0 offset and 9' +18 with a 285 tyre.
if you are running a 9'0 you will need around 35mm - 45mm of coverage depending on what you're looking for. 35mm flares for a 9' 0 with 285 will be pokey as seen below with EGR 35mm flares:
Although this looks great depending on where your located this may not meet legal requirements.
a 35mm flare is much more suited for +10, +15, or +18 depending on tyre size. Here is a 9' +18 with the same EGR flares:
This next gen ranger has 305 tyres on it helping make up for the lack of offset although this is a much more legal friendly set up and still looks great!
Quality:
On the quality side of things you can be sure that the EGR next gen flares are the top of the leaderboard as they are the dealer / OEM ford flare.
They are also Australian made and the company is reachable for after sales service etc.
We would recommend staying away from certain cheaper brands which are available that have subpar quality and fitment.
There is some more budget friendly brands that we like out there that we recommend like the Utemart S35 flares which we don't sell however you can view here
Installation with other accessories:
When considering what will fit best on your Next Gen Ranger there is 3 main modifications to consider.
Bull bars:
If you have a bull bar installed it's crucial that you research fitment with specific bull bars. Some brands like ARB have no solutions to suit their bull bars that wont require custom fitment as their bars are partial replacement. A good rule of thumb is that if your bar is a full replacement, you shouldn't have any issues getting flares to suit.
Here is an example of the front bumper flare having to be cut to suit ARB bar:
Snorkels:
Snorkels will almost always require custom fitment of flares as they tend to impede where the flare will sit. if you have a Safari snorkel every flare on the market will require custom fitment due to how low they sit on the guard. Short entry snorkels like Fabulous Fabrications and Torqit snorkel wont require modifying the flares 99% of the time.
Paint Protection:
Some flares aren't compatible with paint protection like ceramic coats or PPF as they mount using 3M tape. 3M taped flares will have a hard time sticking to any hydrophobic surfaces regardless of the quality of the tape. EGR flares can be installed on these surfaces with no issue as they use a rubber seal against the body that doesn't require any adhesion.
